Welcome to the PLA Radio website! PLA Radio releases occasional audio episodes of hackerish and telephone-related comedy. All episodes are released as Podcasts so be sure to subscribe to the show. There are several sections to the PLA Radio website which are all accessible from the menu options on the top of this page. And once you're done with PLA Radio, be sure to take a look at the rest of our website!
Below you'll find descriptions of the previous episodes of PLA Radio.
Hey look, it’s 2 episodes of PLA Radio released in the same month! Can you say “RBCP needs a girlfriend?” This episode has audio from the PLA Forum’s latest phone mob, a few voicemails from as far back as December and a little something about pay phone stuffing.
I searched all over Google for some good pay phone stuffing (also known as pay phone jamming, apparently) stories or information and could find pretty much nothing on the topic. I’ve always seen it mentioned in passing in history books on telephone companies and in underground ezines, but it seems like there hasn’t been a really good writeup on the topic anywhere. Am I missing it somewhere? If you know of a website (or a book or video or anything else) on the topic of pay phone stuffing, post it in the comments!

Here’s another episode of PLA Radio. This episode features some new information on Bell Canada’s voice authentication and we play a few dangerous prank calls, including the Kentucky Fried Chicken prank call that’s been featured on the news a lot lately. Our guest and co-host is none other than famous author Richard Cardo!
Thanks, Veruca, for pointing us to Generation Zel!, which is where the KFC sound file was located. You can read posts on that site related to the KFC incident here, here, here and here.
Pre-order Richard Cardo’s new book or buy his old one from Amazon.com!
AND
1, 2, 3, 4,
A phreak is knocking at my door.
5, 6, 7, 8,
His lineman’s belt is on him straight.
9, 10, 11, 12,
He’s putting phone wires under my shelf
5, 6, 7, 8,
I do not wish to be harassed by the PLA.
PLA ROCKS!
On the last 2 episodes, I’ve run a little short on time (I really prefer to keep shows under 30 minutes) so I didn’t play any voicemails. I still listen to all the voicemails and will play the least suckiest of them on future shows. So call in your comments to (505) 796-4020 or leave a comment on our contact page.

This episode of PLA Radio features nothing but an interview with one of the 976-GIRLS prank callers, named Erika. Even if you don’t know who the 976-GIRLS are, you might find the techniques and their very businesslike approach to prank calls interesting. D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F. Records is also known for bringing us The Ball Busters and Telephone Head.

This episode covers the fine art of picking up store phones while you’re in a Wal-Mart so you can talk to customers who are calling in. The calls in this episode took place on Black Friday, when it was entirely too busy for employees to notice RBCP talking on the phones.
Something I forgot to mention in this episode is that it’s easy to locate Wal-Mart store phones by looking at the support poles up near the ceiling. Poles that have phones on them are wrapped with blue tape. Poles that have fire extinguishers on them are wrapped with red tape. And to get on the all-store page, you need to dial #96.
There’s a whole page on having fun with store phones located at www.phonelosers.com/article/storephones/. It covers fun things to do in stores and things to dial on all kinds of different store phones. And then there’s our Wal-Mart page, which has even more answered calls and other Wal-Marty funness.
I made a video version of this episode a few days after it was released. As of this writing, it’s been watched 10,000 times on YouTube and over 105,000 times on Ebaums. It’s also been linked from dozens of blogs and forums. Not bad for just a week. Thanks again, Black Friday shoppers!
If you’ve ended up here from the video, be sure to listen to the podcast too since it’s got more calls, longer calls, and explains things slightly better than on the video.

In the spirit of unauthorized PLA Radio episodes, here’s a little unauthorized PLA TV made by Trevelyn, advertising the most recent episode of PLA Radio.
And speaking of PLA TV, YouTube’s Related Videos on Trevelyn’s video shows a bunch of EvilCal’s old videos that I haven’t seen in a few years, from when he posed as a reporter for phonelosers.org at an Iraq war protest. Watch those too!
And finally, there’s a new podcast out called Security Justice. It deals with all kinds of phone and hacker topics, including a little piece about voice authentication which was breaking news in PLA Radio Episode #17. Their show can be found at securityjustice.com.

This episode takes a look at cordless phone monitoring and shows you a little of the fun you missed out on in the 1990’s by eavesdropping on cordless phone users and interfering with their lives. Listen to Legend’s harassment of a cordless phone user in Florida, then hear the results of a few pranks in the mid-90’s. This show is nearly 24 minutes long and the full version is around 22 megs.

Learn all about phone mobbing by listening to our phone mobs on Love Line, What’s Your Bid, Russian Brides, Our Prisoner and a few other radio station call-in shows. Digg recently started up a podcast directory. This means that I’m going to beg the users of this site to visit the Digg page for PLA Radio and Digg the show. The more diggs it gets, the higher it rises in their list of shows. So go do it!
Also, expect a new PLA Radio episode to be out around the beginning of January. To pass the time until then, you should be listening to the new episodes of the Big Beef Bueno Show and relistening to old episodes of PLA Radio.

This is kind of a short episode, as far as content goes. The last 20 minutes is nothing but voicemails from listeners. But in this episode you’ll learn a few different ways to easily make free phone calls. Covered are red boxing, 3rd party billing and charging the phone company for your calls. Very educational! You’ll also hear some breaking news from a computer hackers convention, a way to listen to PLA Radio on your cell phone and a few miscellaneous prank phone calls. This podcast is 36 minutes long and is about 32.9 megs.

A listener emails a question about social engineering Blockbuster Videos, claiming that it’s now nearly impossible. I spend a couple evenings calling every Blockbuster Video in Orange County to prove him wrong. This show is a collection of some of the more informative and entertaining of those calls, plus some voicemails, promos and the best cactus mix you’ve ever heard. This podcast is 29 minutes long and is about 27.2 megs.
The piano music played throughout this episode is the theme from The O.C., also known as California by Phantom Planet. The Cactus Mix background track is by Jay-Z and is called Squeeze 1st. The song on the end is California Love by Tupac and Dr. Dre.
Bonus Outtake! There were a ton of calls made to the various Blockbusters around Orange County but I couldn’t play them all or the show would have been really long and boring. One of the more amusing clips was my girlfriend Jammie attempting to social engineer a Blockbuster out of their password. It was her first attempt ever at social engineering anything and you get to hear her whine a bunch and shake and get cold sweats as I give her a pep talk. Click here to listen to it.

The background music on this show is the theme from Knight Rider. And the song on the end is called Re: Your Brains and is by Jonathan Coulton. Visit his website to download lots of great music.

This podcast is 12 minutes and 43 seconds long and a whopping 12 megabytes in size. It’s co-hosted by a couple of random elderly people who can’t hear anything. Here are some show notes for you…

RBCP & Murd0c broadcast this episode from inside of a dumpster outside a Missouri movie theater, hoping to answer phone calls via the theater’s phone box that they’ve tapped into. They succeed, but are thrown into jail for a few months, pending trial. The involuntary manslaughter charges are dropped, but the phone calls are still hilarious. This podcast is approximately 19 minutes long. Click here to listen to it.

I just took a look through the phonelosers.org access logs for the past month to see how the show was doing. From February 1st, 2006 to March 3rd, 2006, here’s a breakdown of the numbers:
Episode #1 (Brady Bunch, released on Feb 4th) - 2,319 show downloads made by 1467 unique IP addresses
Episode #2 (Social Engineering, released on Feb 25th) - 1,614 show downloads made by 824 unique IP addresses
Episode #3 (Deaf Relay Operators, released on Jan 31st) - 1,663 show downloads made by 872 unique IP addresses
I was surprised at the numbers - I kind of thought it would be much less. So, you know…thanks for listening! I’m not sure if those numbers are necessarily good, as far as podcasts go. Episode #1 is definitely the most downloaded mp3 file on phonelosers.org this past month, though. I have no plans for future shows. But I didn’t exactly plan these first three either. So we’ll see what the future of PLA Radio brings. Really, though, thanks for listening!
And I’m not sure why the numbers of IP addresses are half of what the downloads are. I can only assume that everyone liked the shows so much that they just had to download them each twice.

I have been a listener of the RBPC Show podcast for months now. No, not just because their show looks like a dyslexic version of my name. It’s a good show! My favorite podcast, in fact. I mentioned their show in my journal awhile back and the guy who runs the show even signed my guestbook to say thanks for listening. So the other day I join their forums and introduce myself. But instead of a nice, normal “hello” I threatened them with defamation of character lawsuits instead. All in good fun, of course. But then the accusations started flying and suddenly I’m the one on trial. There’s too much to explain but go visit the RBPC Show forums and try to sort it out for yourself. I think I’ve decided to give up on proclaiming my innocence. No matter how much I explain, they refuse to believe anything I say.
What really pisses these forum users off is the fact that PLA Radio happens to have more votes than them right now. So even if you hate PLA Radio, click on the button below just for spite. It’ll give Halo something more to freak out about.
3/13/2006 UPDATE: Their forums crashed and they lost all the original posts with the PLA bashing in them. It’s too bad because it was good stuff. But at least I can pretend that I haxed their forums to scare them into being nice to me.
