On Saturday, September 27th, 2003 we will hold our next phone mobbing from 9:00am CENTRAL TIME to 10:00am CENTRAL TIME. This week's target will be a local radio station's Garage Sale program. Here's how it works - you're supposed to call into the station's hotline and when you finally get an answer. You are put on the air immediately! There is no screening for this program. You're supposed to tell the DJ what you'd like to sell, how much and then your home phone number so that buyers can call you.

Our plan is to flood the show with our usual sillyness. On Saturday morning we will post the radio station's phone number here. Call the number over and over (you'll get a lot of busy signals because they only have one phone line) until it starts ringing. Within a minute, the DJ will pick up and ask what you want to sell. You are on the air at this point! Now sell something! Here are some ideas of things you can sell:

You can say things like:

"I've got a redbox circa 1996. "

"Hey I've got a beigebox, just made, nice soldering on the gator clips. "

"Hey I've got a programmable orange box built into a classic AT&T trimline 210, a real custom job, works every time!"

"I've got a full set of Jimmy Hoffa's fingers for only $25!"

"Yeah, I have an old RoyT&T Telephone TNI, only used twice..."

Remember, there is no delay system at this radio station. Whatever you say will get on the air until the DJ hangs up on you. Don't curse on the air, instead do something funny or creative. This isn't being done to promote the PLA, so there's no need to try and get our name on the air. RBCP will be recording the radio show and put clips of it all on this page. It will be a long distance number but don't worry about the charges! Your call will be for less than a minute so it's unlikely that your phone bill will increase by more than 25 cents. You will be expected to give a phone number so that people who want to buy can call you back. Just make up 7 random digits. It's a local show so they're not used to getting area codes. If you really want to sound authentic, some of the local prefixes to the show are 465, 466, 462, 259, 254, 251, 258 and 464.

Anyway, this is just a rough announcement, I'll work on the details with Judas and other forums members and get some updating done tonight. The official thread is here.
