If you were at Defcon this past weekend, then you may have noticed PLA paraphernalia laying around on a few tables. We gave away lots of free PLA Media DVDs, t-shirts, buttons, stickers and business cards. If you were the lucky recipient of any of these items, then congratulations! Lots of thanks to the vendors who traded me their t-shirts for PLA t-shirts. And thanks to our sponsors in the sidebars and all of you who’ve purchased PLA merchandise in the past. It’s because of you that I can continue to give away so much free PLA junk.

A couple years ago, murd0c showed me a flash game called Desktop Tower Defense. Since then, my productivity with everything has decreased by about 75% or so. Work, fun, PLA Radio, everything. I’m no longer content to just waste my own life away with this game, though. No, I want to ruin yours as well. Go start playing Desktop Tower Defense today, and add your score to the PLA Scoreboard. Beat my scores so I’ll have a new goal to work towards and my life will have meaning again.

Or you could do me a huge favor by hacking handdrawngames.com and ridding the world of that game forever. If you do that, more PLA Radios will come out. I promise!

Dear RBCP,
I read your article on how to modify a CB radio to broadcast on drive-thru frequencies today. It was a great article, and a good YouTube video as well. I liked it so much, I stopped by my local RadioShack after work. I asked the employee to direct me to the CB radios. He showed me the TRC-241. I said to him "I see the screen is digital; but is the CB radio fully digital?"

He went off to look up the specs. Meanwhile I pulled up phonelosers.org on my cellphone. I saw the model number you wrote down was an earlier version of what I was looking at. I interrupted the guy, saying "Never mind, the model you have looks fine. I'll take it." He responds "Is there anything else I can get you?" - "No, not unless you sell toasters." Perplexed his really cute female co-worker looked over, smiled, and asked me "What are you going to do with that?" I replied "Well see, toasters have a crystal that operates on a higher frequency, which will help me test a theory." Grining, I paid the man, gave a very flirtatious good-bye to the girl and went to Target.

I found their cheapest model for about 7 bucks. I was so excited to get some pranks going tonight, I couldn’t stand it. I kept fantasizing about how I was going to have a lot of fun, and maybe impress some friends.

I got home and set down the two items on my desk. I thought to myself "Hey, I'll film this as proof it can be done!" I set up my camera, hit record, and began to take apart the toaster. I was trying to be as entertaining as possible, all the while, sounding as educated about what I was doing (much like you were). I took off the knob and slider handle. Then I took off the bottom of the toaster; then the side. I saw a tiny circuit board, resting on the bottom of a support plate - mocking me. "Wait a second!?" I thought. "There should be a crystal soldered onto this board! RB said *all* toasters have these as a safety measure!"

I then took apart the CB radio and looked for the crystal there as well, only to find nothing. “What the fuck? 0 for 2, and I'm out $100+!” Surely I bought the wrong model, or sported for a toaster that was too cheap. I thought the comment section of your post would be a good start. Anyone that has run into trouble with this would have posted a solution, or their concern.

I was right. Someone said that the post was made near April 1st. I checked the YouTube page of the video, and plenty of people were shouting "this is so fake! you people are idiots!," etc. I knew right then, I have just been had. I started laughing to myself. I couldn’t believe that I wouldn't have second-guessed such a simple tutorial from you, the mighty trickster. I went back to the RadioShack and saw that the people I dealt with, had already gone home. I explained to the other guy that I was a victim of an elaborate joke, and how I took apart a toaster in order to get to a high-frequency crystal. The guy looked at me like I was the biggest moron on the planet, while he shook his head. "No.. No. You’re not going to find a crystal like that in a toaster." He replied.

To say the least, he refunded me my money. *whew!*

Thanks, RBCP, for giving me the motivation to tear apart a toaster!

Zan (iNFEKTiD.org)

So…it’s been a few months now and I guess it’s as good of a time as any to state the semi-obvious…that article about modifying toasters and the accompanying YouTube video on the subject were hoaxes. There is no crystal inside a toaster to “control the frequency of the heating coils” and you can’t replace anything inside a CB radio to make it transmit on a drive-thru frequency. Sure, there are ways to hijack fast food frequencies, but using a CB radio and/or a toaster isn’t the way to go about it. Our goal was to destroy as many toasters on the planet as possible.

This turned out to be my most widespread hoax, thanks to Gizmodo, Consumerist, Fark and Digg linking to it. The video was watched over 100,000 times and I don’t know how many people visited the phonelosers.org article on the same subject. It was a lot, though. I received at least 50 emails about toasters and many threads were created on the PLA Forums by new users, begging for help on the subject. We deleted a lot of them, but here are some of the surviving threads…

How To Hijack Fast Food Drive-Thru Frequencies This is my original thread on the subject. It was orginally posted in a secret area so we could laugh at everyone about the prank. There’s some links in this thread to other sites that linked to the video.
Yaesu question
Where can i find a 6.5536 crystal?
NEED HELP RE: YOUTUBE VIDEO OMG, this Trevelyn guy is such a newb!
Taco Bell Takeover
Hijack drive thru question

Even better than the forum posts were the YouTube comments on this prank. You’ll notice that many of the first comments were positive reviews of the video, a lot of them claiming that they tried the mod and it worked beautifully. These were mostly made by people from the PLA Forums, just trying to make the video more realistic by backing up the claims that it worked. The rest of the posts fall into these three categories:

You asshole, your prank cost me money! You suck!

Haha, your prank cost me money! You rule!

I’m so smart that I realize this is a prank and I’m desperate to prove this to everyone.

I have a lot of emails that are pretty funny, but I’m too lazy to search through my archived email, looking for the best ones. Many thanks to all the people who helped with this prank by debunking the debunkers on YouTube and by stringing along the new users on the forums. And a huge thanks to Zan, who not only had an awesome sense of humor about the whole thing, but even sent in the picture of himself with a disassembled toaster. Go visit his iNFEKTiD website and pay your respects!

And to you people who were hoping to hijack drive-thru frequencies - shame on you! Messing with minimum wage employees is wrong and very un-Christian-like! People like you cost these businesses lots of money and you shouldn’t be thinking of doing things like this! Shame, shame shame!

For the past few days, members of the PLA Forums have been showing their sensitive side by writing beautiful bits of poetry on the Poetry Critical website. These inspiring words about cacti, telephones, motels, and hacking have been some of the highest rated poetry on Poetry Critical this week.

Of course, some people are jealous of the PLA’s amazing talent. People like the regulars at Poetry Critical, who hate that their own emoness is being overshadowed by our sheer brilliance. But we can’t let a little jealousy keep us down. We’ll keep writing from the heart and try to ignore their unending hatred for cacti and telephones. Be sure to visit Poetry Critical and look at some of the insightful works of art that are currently featured in both the newest poetry and the highest rated poetry. Be sure to rate our poetry with whatever you feel is fair. And it’s easy to set up your own account and begin writing your own poetry immediately if you’re into that kind of thing.

Also if you like to like to talk about cactus and poetry, their forums are full of interesting conversation. I’d like to say thanks to the Poetry Critical regulars who brought my newfound love for poetry to life by spamming my homepage this morning.

June 22nd, 2008 update: The hilarity which once ensued on that site has nearly been extinguished at this point. They have banned all poetry with references to cactus in it and they’ve been deleting our accounts. The forums still have a small bit of hilarity left in them, but threads are quickly locked or deleted now. They really brought the hammer down on the cactus.

Recently I began listen to The Naked Kitchen Podcast, and after listening to every single episode I’m finally ready to recommend it to everyone else. Besides interviewing famous people like Junkyard Willie from the Touchtone Terrorists, prank callers like Sandy Chapin and Jim Florentine (from Crank Yankers), YouTube stars like Cory Williams (aka Mr. Safety) and Zach from The Whitest Kids U’ Know, they also chat, play good music (or hilariously bad music), take calls and play prank calls.

There’s really not many podcasts featuring so much prank call humor, so it’s great to finally find something like this. And best of all, they occasionally talk about how much PLA rules. You have to love a podcast that does that. You can visit their Myspace at myspace.com/nakedkitchen, go to their blog or subscribe to their RSS feed in Itunes.

phonelosers.org will be undergoing some upgrades over the next few days. Things are likely going to be a little messed up during our transition. The forums will probably be down for awhile, as well as other things like the photo albums, the store and our mp3s. It’ll be complete pandemonium! But hang in there for the next few days and it’ll all be back to normal soon. Hopefully.

EDIT @ 7:28PM PST on Wednesday - The new server is working. Obviously I’ve got Wordpress working on it. I can’t make the regular PLA Theme work until I finish getting the forums up. I’m uploading them now and restoring the MySQL database. All is going well so far…

EDIT @ 10:31PM PST on Wednesday - Forums are working, but with the default theme. Most of the phonelosers.org site theme is working again. I’m FTPing a couple gigs of the remaining files as I sleep. Hopefully things will be mostly back to normal at some point tomorrow.

EDIT on Sunday - Photos albums are back and so is the store. I think everything is sort of back to normal now. Please let me know if you spot anything wrong.

Yesterday I noticed some hits coming to phonelosers.org from an unfamiliar YouTube page, so I clicked on the link and heard a prank call by Mr. Spessa where he was calling up hotel guests and pissing them off with his impromptu policies. Only these were brand new calls that I’d never heard before. This YouTube guy, w3baholicX, took one of Mr. Spessa’s hotel pranks, turned it into a soundboard and started pranking new hotels with it. Take a listen…

w3baholicX was nice enough to send me the soundboard, so I’m putting it up here so that everyone can use it to make prank calls to hotels without using their real voice. Click here to use the soundboard. (WARNING: It’s HUGE. About 11 megs.) If you do anything particularly hilarious with this soundboard, post a link to it in the comments section.

You might also enjoy the one other soundboard on this site - the RBCP Soundboard. It was made by Heywood from the old Curtis Lee Jones pranks. (I used to have a Curtis soundboard, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere.)

To hear the original hotel pranks, visit our hotel page. And if you enjoy soundboard pranks, you’ll really like w3baholicX’s YouTube page, which is filled with them.

Over the past few years, a lot of music has been created in the name of the PLA. So today, I created this page to showcase these songs. My hope is that listening to this music will inspire even more people to write songs about the PLA, so our “Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” will be more than just 7 tracks long. Because really, who’s going to purchase our CD for $17.99 plus tax when there’s only 7 tracks on it??

RBCP wrote the lyrics to this song in January 2005 and included them in UPL issue #29. Shortly after the issue of UPL was released, Rob T. Firefly released this version of the song.

The song is about a 17-year-old character named Deter who wants to be a phone phreak but his conscience keeps interfering with his ideas. (You might remember a guy named Deter from a few of the old PLA issues.) This song is a parody of Guilty Conscience by Eminem and Dr. Dre.

There are a few more, such as the 2 dance mixes that were done in the 1990’s by Calimar and some other guy.

A few years back, some friends and I were messing around with a Taco Bell’s drive-thru frequencies. RijilV and isotek showed me how easy it was to hijack the frequencies of just about any fast food restaurant with a very simple mod to a ham radio. The radios they used were Yaesu VX-5 and VX-7 models. We had a few weeks of occasional fun, sitting a few parking lots away and saying all kinds of horrible things to potential fast food customers. For the most part, I didn’t record any of it. But you can find a few clips of our fast food hijinks if you scroll down on the PLA Sound Clips Archive page.

Finally we decided to capture a bit of our FCC violations on video. But instead of capturing actual customers being harassed by us as they placed an order, I drove through the Taco Bell drive-thru myself with a video camera sitting on the dashboard. As I attempted to place my order, RijilV informed me of some crazy new Taco Bell policies and a manager immediately rushed out to explain to me that I wasn’t actually talking to an employee. Here is that video:

After spending several years on Google Video and YouTube, it’s been watched approximately 20,000 times. And of those 20,000 people who have viewed it, approximately all of them have emailed me and asked me what kind of radio we used and how can they use a radio to do the same thing. So in the spirit of April 1st and in order to quell the number of emails sent to me and posts on the PLA Forums asking the same thing, I’ve decided to write this tutorial to help those people out.

But I’m not going to explain how to modify a Yaesu VX5 or a Yaesu VX7. A simple Google search will show you how to modify these ham radios. The problem with these mods is that, even though they’re fairly simple, you have to buy the radios which could cost you anywhere from $200 - $400. Then, after removing a couple solder points, you have to learn how to use it, you have to look up fast food frequency lists, you have to understand the difference between the transmit frequencies and the receive frequencies and you have to scroll through PL tones using trial and error to find the correct one.

Or how about we do this a different way. A way that uses a couple items that you might already have in your home. You can easily modify most old CB radios in a way that will allow them to transmit directly to drive-thru frequencies. You won’t have to scroll through hundreds of possible drive-thru frequencies, because a CB radio’s channels line up in exactly the same way as most drive-thru’s channels, only at a higher frequency. How do you get your CB radio to run at a higher frequency? A simple replacement of the crystal inside, with a 6.5536 MHz crystal. This triples the megahertz that are broadcast on and there is no learning required. You just take the modified CB radio to a fast food restaurant and start broadcasting to the customers.

“But RBCP, I don’t have a 6.5536 MHz crystal lying around my house,” you might be whining at this point. But this isn’t true. Just about any house has several 6.5536 MHz crystals in them if you know where to look. This just happens to be the exact same crystal that you can find in electric heaters, hair dryers, electric stoves, curling irons, electric hot water heaters, irons, and toasters. These crystals are in just about any item that has heated coils and are used to control the frequency of the heating elements so that they don’t burn your house down.

So for this modification you need…

1 CB radio. It has to be a 40 channel CB radio with a digital display, which includes just about any CB radio manufactured after the mid 1980’s. The old 23 channel CBs from the 1970’s will not work. It can even be a walkie talkie CB radio. If you don’t have one, you can find one at Goodwill or a yard sale for probably less than $10.

1 toaster. (Or other item with heating elements inside.) A toaster is the most ideal to use, because it’s almost guaranteed to have the crystal inside of it. It’s more common to find curling irons and hair dryers that don’t. Again, it should be a toaster manufactured within the past 20 years or so. Before that they didn’t have crystal requirements for toaster manufacturers. (And incidentally, there were a lot more electrical house fires back then.) Goodwill will probably have a toaster for less than $10.

1 soldering iron and solder. Don’t worry if you don’t have soldering experience. It’s actually pretty easy. Click here for a soldering tutorial. You can purchase a soldering iron at Radio Shack or Sears for about $10.

A few screwdrivers

Even if you have to buy all these materials, you’re only out $30. That’s a lot better than the $300 you might end up spending on a Yaesu radio. And some of you might already have all these items so you don’t have to pay anything. Ask a friend or a relative if they’ve got an old toaster or CB radio lying around that they don’t need.

First you’ll want to take apart your toaster. This isn’t too hard. Just flip it upside down and start removing the screws. You’ll probably need to pull off the plastic lever and knobs before you remove the top of the toaster. Once you have the top off, you’ll see a green or brown circuit board inside.

Flip the circuit board down and you’ll see all the components on the other side, including the 6.5536 MHz crystal. The crystal is silver and will have 6.5 stamped on the side of it. In the picture below, I’ve used an arrow to show you where it’s located.

The crystal is likely in a different spot in other toasters, but it’s hard to mistake for any other electronic component. The crystal will have some form of 6.5 stamped on the side of it. In my toaster, it showed 6.55-12. While the official frequency needed is 6.5536 MHz, anything within 1.6 megahertz will work. So don’t worry if your crystal just says 6.5 or 6.50 - it’s all the same for our purposes.

It’s kind of hard to see what I’m doing in the picture above, but I’m heating up the leads on the crystal from underneath with my soldering iron to melt the solder, and I’m pulling on the crystal from above with a pair of needle nose pliers. It only takes a few seconds to get the crystal out of the toaster.

Now that the crystal is out of your toaster, throw your toaster away! Do not attempt to use it once the crystal is removed. Remember, the crystal is in there for safety and using your toaster without the crystal could burn your toast and/or start a kitchen fire. It’s likely your toaster won’t even turn on with the missing crystal, but please don’t even try. Just throw it away.

As I mentioned before, just about any brand and model of CB radio will work, as long as it has the digital display on it. Which means, just about any CB radio manufactured after the mid 1980’s. These are the kinds of CB radios whose frequencies are controlled by a single crystal inside of them. For my mod, I used a Radio Shack TRC-207 walkie talkie CB radio, which is pictured above. I prefer using a walkie talkie CB radio because it doesn’t requiring sticking a huge CB antenna on the roof of my car which might be noticed if a fast food employee starts looking around the parking lot for the culprits.

Taking apart your CB radio is just as easy as taking apart the toaster. Remove the screws and pop it open. You may or may not have to lift up the circuit board inside to find the crystal inside. In my particular model, the crystal actually plugged into a socket so I didn’t need to even desolder the old crystal. I just pulled it out with my fingers and then plugged in the new 6.55 MHz crystal. I don’t know how common this is, because in other CB radios that I’ve modified the crystal was soldered to the circuit board, just like in the toaster.

Put your CB back together and test it to make sure it’s working. You’re finished! Obviously, you won’t be able to talk on normal CB channels anymore since your CB is transmitting and receiving at a much higher frequency now. But who cares, CB channels are lame anyway. Let’s hop in the car and drive to our nearest fast food establishment to test it out.

Sit near the drive-thru and wait for a customer to pull up. While the customer is talking to the drive-thru speaker, start flipping through your channels until you hear them talking. I’ve found that most drive thrus end up being somewhere in the 16 - 25 channel range. I’ve never found one above channel 30 and only a few on channels 1 through 15. It all depends on how their drive-thru is set up and what frequencies they’re using. Anyway, push down your talk button and start talking to the customer.

The cool thing about using a CB radio to transmit on drive-thru frequencies is that a CB is designed to work for several miles. The headsets that those fast food people wear are only designed to work for about 100 feet. So you can easily overpower the employees, even if you’re several parking lots away. In fact, you may be inadvertently screwing with several other drive-thrus in town without even knowing it. This is more likely when you’re using the kind of CB radio that’s supposed to be installed in a car. Those usually run on 5 watts and can cover an entire city. This is another reason I like to use my walkie talkie. It’s lucky if it will work for even a mile, so I’m only harassing one restaurant at a time.

If you found this tutorial useful, you might also enjoy the video I’ve made on the same subject. It includes much of the same information in this tutorial, but also includes actual footage of us messing with a drive-thru with this CB mod. Enjoy!

More than 10 years have passed since the heyday of all our nonsense at the Boulder News Forums, which you can read all about on our Boulder News Frenzy page. And now an “investigator” has put together a rock solid case, implicating RBCP and other members of the PLA as the Jonbenet Ramsey kidnappers.

“RBCP is my lead. I’m hot on this guy.”

The “investigation” is put together by a man named Richard Cardo on YouTube with a series of 17 YouTube videos, featuring horrid sound quality, lots of stuttering, and lots of screen captures that are impossible to read. The first 9 episodes in the series examines the subtle meanings of the JBR ransom note. Richard notices that the writer of the note is obviously into phone hacking, listening to authorities on scanners and spoofing caller ID. All of this is clearly encoded in the ransom note. But the real clincher is the signature on the note - S.B.T.C, which obviously stands for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

But Part 10 and Part 11 are where it really gets exciting! Richard’s first search leads him to an 1997-era e-zine called Telephone Free Planet. He quickly discovers that the author of this e-zine, KungFuFox, is actually RedBoxChiliPepper! RBCP has been writing Telephone Free Planet simply to promote the PLA e-zine. RBCP will stop at nothing to promote the PLA. Not even…murder… (Imagine that last line stated in a deep, dramatic, movie guy-type voice.)

And the similarities between the JBR case and the writings in Telephone Free Planet are uncanny! Such as KungFuFox (aka RedBoxChiliPepper) suggesting that beige boxers bring crayons with them to color Bell cans red, because linemen use special infrared glasses to find telco cans and they only show up if they’re colored green or grey. You can really fuck the linemen up if you color them red! And Jonbenet’s dead body was found red writing on her hand! KungFuFox also suggests smashing telco cans with baseball bats…just as JBR was bludgeoned in the head with what was probably a baseball bat!

“RBCP seemed to be the straw that stirred the drink.”

Part 12 talks about Jameson the Boulder News Forums that the PLA attacked in 1997. Jonbenet’s mother, Patsy, apparently said that the PLA was a threat and she didn’t want to be harassed by them. Robert is sure that Tannest and RBCP had something going on and he mentions LogicBox’s article in PLA Issue 45 which encourages readers to harass the Boulder News Forums.

He also notices that PLA Issue 45 shows people how to break into a house! RBCP, writing about ways to create more cordless phone users in his neighborhood, suggests the following: “Break into their house and take note of where all of their phones are located. Rearrange the location of all the phones so that their cordless phone will be in the spot where it will get the most use. Or just steal all of their other non-cordless phones so that they would have no choice but to use the cordless one. If you feel bad about stealing their phones, bring a supply of cordless phones with you and replace all of their old phones with cordless phones. Yes, it’s quite obvious that RBCP is the mastermind behind the Christmas break in at the Ramsey home.

Part 13 It’s time to put Brad Carter under a microscope. Richard finds some PLA fan art of Chris Tomkinson getting shot with a cactus gun on phonelosers.org and decides that RBCP’s son (who was an infant at the time those drawings were mailed to RBCP, by the way) is responsible for the drawings but RBCP must have written the captions under them. He shows the drawings and compares the lettering to that found in the ransom note. Richard also shows a picture of RBCP in front of a Southwestern building, flipping off the Bell symbol! The ransom note writer signed S.B.T.C! OMG, another connection! Richard surely came in his pants when he first spotted this picture.

Part 14 is a quick analysis of Colleen Card’s homepage in the 90’s and the menacing poetry on it. And then a look at RBCP’s homepage, his travels (which has him passing through Denver on the way to Ohio, just a year before the murder, probably to “case the joint”), and some information on the hacker party called CuervoCon. CuervoCon never happened, you know. Instead, RBCP and the rest of PLA’s active members met in Denver and had a party there. Things got a little out of control and the next thing you know…MURDER IN BOULDER! The PLA really knows how to throw a party. The next thing you know, the PLA e-zine has ended and the core members of the group are suddenly not on speaking terms.

Part 15 shows more in-depth analysis of the comparison between the JBR ransom note and the Chris Tomkinson cactus art. You know, little things like comparing characters, stylistic decisions on character formation, whole words and punctuation. Richard also finds pictures of RBCP’s postcards from his Ebay page which prove, without a doubt, that RBCP is the one who wrote the ransom note.

“He gives himself away by trying to disguise the way he writes his A’s.”

Part 16 shows that Steve Eller is Brad Carter. Obviously, since they both live in Ohio. Anyone who lives in Ohio is Brad Carter. This one is boring.

Part 17 wraps up everything we’ve learned about Brad Carter’s involvement in the Jonbenet Ramsey kidnapping and murder, and gives us a few more surprises such as the “bueno” connection between the murder and RBCP’s frequent use of it. But the real bombshell drops when Richard shows us a picture of a PLA contest entry of a girl holding a sign about the PLA. The sign has a smiley face on it…just like the one written in red ink on Jonbenet’s hand! And the smiley face’s eyes are drawn as vertical lines. NOBODY draws smiley faces with vertical lines. Nobody, that is, except for Brad Carter.

By the time you finish watching all these videos, there will be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Brad Carter is the man behind the ransom note. Be sure to stay tuned to Richard Cardo’s YouTube page where he will soon begin to investigate other key members of the PLA and he will uncover their involvement as well. Also, take a look at our Boulder News Frenzy page, where the PLA once tried to cover up a murder by silencing the diligent investigators of the internet. Your time is soon, Brad Carter. Your time is soon.

320Sycamore.com Forums Here’s a discussion about the video series.

WebbSleuths forums Our old friend Jameson apparently is having a discussion with herself about this video series.

It’ll go something like this - the first place winner gets to pick the 10 tapes/CDs he wants, the 2nd place winner gets to pick 10 of the remaining 10 tapes/CDs, and 3rd place gets the rest of the crap that’s left. Everyone who entered will receive a PLA Media DVD and a DVD full of my entire prank call collection. Once again, lots of thanks to everyone who entered the contest!

Before we get into the prank call contest entries, here’s a quick site update…you can now receive emails whenever new content and updates are posted to phonelosers.org. We were using Feedblitz to accomplish this before, but it was slow and they probably sold your email address to Nigerians. The new system emails you immediately after entries are posted and you’re not giving up your email address to a 3rd party company. You can use the form below to sign up. Or you can just keep using the RSS feed like a normal person.

Your email:
Subscribe Unsubscribe

Now on to the contest entries! There have been quite a few entries that don’t follow the rules of this contest. People are sending in just regular prank calls that have nothing to do with the PLA. And one person send in a deaf relay call transcript. Sorry people, but I’m only accepting PLA-themed prank calls for this contest. Here’s are the current entries.

Tachyon’s 1st Entry: Cactusing a 7-Eleven

Tachyon’s 2nd Entry: Cactusing some other business

z3wb’s 1st Entry: z3wb violates some FCC laws in this homage to our What’s Yer Bid phone mob.

z3wb’s 2nd Entry: And some more of the same.
Harry’s Entry (part 1, part 2, part 3): Harry’s pranks a hotel and tells the front desk that someone peed in his room.

Sam’s Entry: Sam calls a Wal-Mart and claims to have scammed a computer from them, just like our old modem scam prank on the PLA’s Wal-Mart Page.

That’s it for now. Thanks to everyone who’s submitted calls so far. Keep the PLA-themed calls coming because you still have until January 15th to win some prank call CDs and tapes!

As mentioned in PLA Radio #15, I’m starting up a new contest. The Win RBCP’s Old Prank Call Tapes and CDs Contest! I recently converted my remaining cassette tapes and CDs to mp3s, most of which happened to be prank calls. So now I’m left with several dozen prank call tapes and CDs that I have no use for. So I’m using this contest as a guise for offloading my old crap onto some unsuspecting prank caller who thinks they’re actually winning something cool. I’m a genius!

If you would like to win this excellent collection of prank call history (aka crappy old prank tapes, lots with terrible sound quality) then all you have to do is submit a prank call that you’ve made. Not just any prank call, though. It must be a PLA-themed prank call. Your prank call must include something done in the spirit of the PLA, such as cactusing someone, calling someone from the PLA’s past, reenacting an prank call or an event from our site, or just doing something generally PLA-ey. Get it?

How many of these prank call cassetes/CDs I give out to each winner will depend on how many entries there are and how much effort you put into it. If there’s a lot of entries, I’ll probably let the first place winner have first choice, the second place winner have second choice, etc. If you need some help on how to record your telephone calls, click here for a tutorial. Here’s a semi-complete list of the tapes and CDs you could win:

The CranKings - Sushi and Friends Act I (copied cassette)

The Teleprankers Volume 1 and 2 (copied cassette)

Frank Da Prank (copied cassette)

Screamers (copied cassette)

Benny Calls Volume 3 (copied cassette)

Jerky Boys bootleg (copied cassette)

Jerky Boys Bud Light commercials (copied cassette)

The Ball Busters (copied cassette)

The Musacha Tapes (cassette)

John Lancaster SPEAKS (copied cassette)

Phone Losers of America Give Me Liberty or Give Me Steak (copied cassette)

Jenn Redmond (copied cassette)

Mark Knofler (copied cassette)

Phone Pride World Wide (all 4 of his CDs)

Bubba Johnson & Company (copied cassette)

The Phone Heads (copied cassette)

Dumbass (CD-R)

Garson Landfil (CD-R)

Go With The Flow (CD-R)

Tube Bar (cassette)

John Trubee - Great Phone Calls (CD-R)

Telephone Head (CD-R)

PLA Raw Material - Volumes 1 - 5) (CD-R)

976-GIRLS (CD-R)

Phone Losers of America Give Me Liberty or Give Me Steak (real CD from mp3.com)

There’s a little more of it, but some of it is commercially available stuff and I probably shouldn’t mention that I’m giving away CD-Rs of their work. There’s some great prank callers in the mix and some crappy ones. But it’s all fun stuff to listen to. The contest officially starts today and it officially ends on January 15th, 2007. You can submit your pranks by email to rbcp AT phonelosers.org or post them in the forums. Get to work!
