According to Holiday Insights, today is National Inane Answering Message Day. They say, “An inane message is a senseless or meaningless message, or a prank call. Or, it could be an insane message.” So I guess…call up some strangers and leave them a few messages.

And if you’re looking for a good stranger to call, I have just the person! Sarah Manolis, a 19-year-old girl from Oregon! She’s spent the past four months collecting random voice mails from strangers and posting them to her website at www.sendmeavoicemail.com. As of this writing, she’s received 679 messages from around the world. Leave her a message about anything you want, as long as it’s not obscene and doesn’t involve singing.

Sarah asks that you only call once per day, since she’s got a lot of messages to filter through and wants everyone to have a turn. Be sure to visit her website and listen to the other messages that have been left.

We have declared a fatwa on Calimar and his new site Cal’s Content Kingdom! Our content is better than his content. Cal thinks that people want to watch user submitted videos, play old-school video games against other users, read artiCals and talk in his forums.

An announcement from my friend Joe at Mentally Incontinent (you might remember him from that insane Wal-mart revenge prank). I don’t usually do non PLA/phone/hackerish related updates, but this one is for a good cause so I’m doing it anyway. Joe & his wife are in training for a 100 mile bicycle race in Nevada for something called Team In Training, to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They’re trying to raise $10,000 and have actually managed to raise over $1,000 already. The money goes towards cancer research and you can send as little as you want. Even if you don’t want to donate, check out the site and read up on it.

To all the PLAers that aren’t homeless, hungry and/or dying, please donate a little money to help with the hurricane relief efforts. Any amount helps, even if it’s just a couple of bucks. You have a couple of bucks in your PayPal account, right? And let’s hope our friends at PLA Louisiana and the Gulf Coast Mississippi PLA are doing okay.
